The wee one

A special blog posting to my friend Lady S, who today became the proud mom of a baby girl! Congrats!

I doubt that she will be reading this anytime soon, but DH and I send our good thoughts and best wishes nonetheless!

Hooray for baby wee one!! We always knew the coolest kids were born in November. Any suggestions for baby knitted items a beginner like me could do? I learned increase and decrease, so right now the only things I'm totally flummoxed by are cables and other fancy things like that.

Thanks Jen! Rev- how about a baby blanket - you can do it on large needles. I've discovered baby stuff is hard, because everything is so small, you end up having to knit stuff on doublepointed needles. I'll look around for some other ideas!

I knew Nov. 5th sounded familiar for some reason. Happy birthday to you and Baby S! Smart kid.

I found a baby blanket pattern in Stoller's "stitch and bitch" book called the Big Bad Baby Blanket. Looks like something I can handle, though knitting while holding two threads together might be tricky. If it comes out lousy I'll just give it to one of my kids. Picking out yarn is intimidating for me right now - wish me luck.

it sounds like your pattern calls for using "double yarn" - two strands. My last sweater - not yet blocked- and my current sweater project both call for knitting double. It's actually really easy!
